Meet Meena

Constable Meena Rangi has been with the EPS for nearly 10 years. She has worked on the frontline in patrol as well as in units like Emergency Communications as a dispatcher, and with the Domestic Abuse High Risk Team (DAHRT).

When asked about her favourite area to work for, she noted, “I can’t choose just one...each unit and division provided their own unique experiences. I can say for sure the people I have worked with and continue to work with, have greatly contributed to my most enjoyable moments on the job. I’ve met and formed meaningful connections with wonderful people here at EPS and I’ve had fun while working, creating bonds that last a career. It’s something I cherish.

I’ve also learned that you are never left alone to ‘figure it out’. There is always someone available to lend a hand, a phone call, or chat. I’m not sure you’d get that level of assistance elsewhere”.

When offering words of encouragement or advice to someone considering a career in policing, Meena says “ask questions, utilize resources available to you, we have a lot in place. Connect with the EPS Recruiting Unit through the Run with Recruiter program – you can ask questions, gauge your physical fitness and meet others interested in the career. I’d also recommend maintaining a strong level of physical fitness prior to applying, and after Recruit Class. Fitness is an essential component of Recruit Training, but it’s imperative to retain this after recruit training”.

Meena says, “If deferred, or struggling with the process do not give up. The Recruiting Unit will help you as best they can and give any advice to help. Take advice from your file manager or other EPS members and work on any areas of concern”.

When Meena isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and keeping busy with her two boys! If that’s not enough her hobbies include staying active by running the Capilano, or Ezio Farone stairs, biking or working out. She’s also a sucker for cheesy reality shows, down-time with social-experiment shows on Netflix or testing a new recipe, or dessert in the kitchen!
